This sounds like it would be fun! Thunderbird is a small team of good people working on a great project —and this role sounds really high impact. It almost sounds written for me, but I’m very happy where I am. 😜
Warning: someone is spamming cryptocurrency on Fedi
Just had someone try to "send" me cryptocurrency through a Fedi account without my knowledge or consent.
To "collect" what is "sent", people mentioned would have to sign up to their service. I did not do this, and never will.
I am not at all comfortable seeing my username on their list of recipients, it makes it look like I use cryptocurrency.
For the record: I don't use any form of cryptocurrency/token/NFT. I never have and never will, ever.
Please don't have anything to do with this, "sending" tokens like this is effectively just spamming people. I have reported it as spam.
This is not at all nice for those of us who want to stay as far away from cryptocurrency as possible.
so, as of the latest #Phasmophobia update, the new voice recognition system does work through Proton on Linux
which means I no longer have an excuse to not use the spirit box or Ouija board
which also means I can finally mess with the ghost now on the spirit box and Ouija board
I have been given power and it's not gonna end well
If you think of free software as a developers' rights issue, it's a solved problem. Developers can use free stacks everywhere, and they are free to fix anything. Nobody is legally restricted from learning to be a developer. There's a pretty good live ecosystem. Mission accomplished.
If you think of free software as a human rights issue, you need to think about how all people can actually use and benefit, and usability and accessibility and localisation all become integral parts of the problem.

It’s incredible seeing the work that has gone into #GNOME on the performance and adaptability front. Full GNOME—including GNOME Shell—is now actually possible on a phone, with best-in-class UI and gestures. https://blogs.gnome.org/shell-dev/2022/05/30/towards-gnome-shell-on-mobile/
Had a question about bots, so here's some info:
Some accounts on Mastodon are marked as "bot" by their owners. It just means that the posts are automated and there's probably no one monitoring the account.
To mark your account as a "bot", log in through the website, click on "Edit Profile", tick "this is a bot account" and then click "save changes".
Some bots *are* monitored by their developers though, who may answer on the bot's behalf.
Also, some bots are actually interactive and the bot itself will reply to you in an automated way. A good example of this is the text adventure bot at:
GNOME Shell mobile support is looking great
some FFXIV WoL lore
Kaelri started as a lancer, but never really felt like the lance suited her.
Shortly after her adventures took her to Ishgard, she quickly took a liking to firearms and became a machinist.
However, it wasn't long before a tragic loss--and failure to protect someone close--had her commit to the gunblade instead.
I've seen some criticisms of proprietary software in Flathub/Snap/etc.
I get it- I prefer to use FOSS when possible, too. But if making popular tools available increases adoption, in my opinion, that only helps the community grow in the long run.
I can't tell you how many comments I've read saying "I'd use Linux if not for Adobe". If Adobe joined Flathub, it'd bring **some** folks in. They could discover FOSS alternatives after a bit. Linux would grow! That's good!
Want an example of where Fedora Silverblue 36 trumps the usability of macOS? See the gorgeous new screenshot feature (part of GNOME 42).
1. What do you press to take a screenshot on a Mac? I keep forgetting the silly combination… On my machine, it’s the Print Screen button.
2. The screenshot feature is entirely intuitive with no hidden functionality; it remembers your choices and lets you record stills or videos.
