This *seems* like a great idea, but...will it be safe to operate during times of excessive heat? Our local (slow) rail service has issues so I'd assume the problems would be magnified w/a fast-moving train? cntraveler.com/story/amtrak-ex

Condé Nast Traveler · The US Could Be Getting a New, ‘World Class’ High-Speed Train in the SouthBy Rachel Chang

@IndoorVoice not if its designed, built and maintained to normal HSR standards. There are railways operating at 200mph all over the world in high temperatures with great safety records.

From what I can see of US rail systems, your issues are due to a lack of infrastructure maintenance funding

@25kV You could be right, but I honestly don't know. I was basing my ? on having received 4 notices just today that our local rail (TRE) has to operate at slower speeds. Presumably due to the rails warping from heat (109 deg F here right now)? I don't know for sure - I'm not an engineer.
