When you're serious about your cycling habit, this is the T-shirt for you:

Had a conversation with someone about the prices of my T-shirts. He said he buys. You his from a high-street retailer, at £3 per T-shirt. That retailer was repeatedly caught with child-labour in their supply lines.
When you buy cheap, someone else pays the price.
My T-shirts are ethically sourced, with people being paid fair wages & no child labour involved. You can read my ethical policy here: willcycle.com/shop/

I'm in the latest Road.cc podcast. What I'm really chuffed about is they picked up on the significance of the the SheCycles series of posts on WillCycle.com
Here's the link to the podcast: road.cc/content/news/roadcc-po

Not wanting to keep new subscribers waiting too long, I've recorded and released the next edition of the Fiets Podcast. This time, talking about the award of money from Active Travel England to Warwickshire County Council for improvements in the south of the county, and thoughts on the Nuneaton-Bedworth-Coventry scheme.

Fill your ears at fiets.uk/podcast - don't forget to subscribe and share!

Right then, new people - this influx of followers today cannot be all about me! So, it's time for a post (I don't think I've done one of these before).

Here's a handful of other people who have a interest that you might want to check out.

In no particular order:

"even if you win the rat race, you remain a rat

Life comes at you fast, and that pace will only ever get faster. Yes, there’s a thrill to be had from ducking the knocks life throws your way in time, but there’s something even better: taking time out"

I must remember to become more active on here, and not simply exclusively use the bird site

Also, Fun fact: In the USA, you cannot be forced to reveal password BUT you can be forced to unlock phone using fingerprint/face ID, if for any reason this could apply to you, I encourage you to disable both way and just rely on a good old password instead!

The deep joys of working on a Sunday afternoon, into the evening

PSA: The "verified" symbol you see on Twitter etc means absolutely nothing on Mastodon or the Fediverse. On here, symbols like :verified: are just custom emoji that anyone can use and put after their name. Don't be fooled! 😁

There are ways to verify your identity on here, but the :verified: symbol is not one of them.

The easiest way to verify your identity is if you have a website that people already know is yours. You can paste a special code into your website which will verify your address and it will turn green on your Mastodon profile (see here for instructions: mstdn.social/@feditips/1062741).

Alternatively, you can set up a server as a subdomain of your known website address. For example, the European union set up their own Mastodon server at social.network.europa.eu, and we know it really is the EU because the server address is part of the EU's well-known europa.eu domain.

@WilliamNB can I have links to people who I have affinity to Will? Like cycling touring etc…

Well, blocked my 1st person on here. I'm ex-military, and while I'm strongly anti-war, if you're going to dish out statements like "f*ck veterans and serving soldiers alike" then you and I won't get along.
I was a conscript and lost friends in battle.
Don't EVER insult the memory of those guys!

Like there's a word for all this poverty shaming, homeless-hating, landlord-centering, hustle-grind nonsense that you see permeating every facet of life, and the word is "classism." We just don't use it very much.

:boost_ok: :ablobcatwave: Please boost this post if you would like the EFF to join the fediverse. :ablobcatbongo:

In a survey the EFF sent me, I suggested they create an account on the fediverse, so they can reach more supporters and support innovative free software that promotes interoperability among platforms, something they've advocated for in the past, too.

If you can boost this post, maybe I'll be able to show them that there are quite a few users who would like them here!

The EFF is the infamous nonprofit organisation that fights for privacy, government transparency, and digital freedom. Their fight is very important, and the EFF is very special to me. https://www.eff.org/about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Frontier_Foundation

You can see some of their work here https://www.eff.org/work

In the meantime, you can follow @eff, which is an unofficial mirror of their Twitter.

Pretty much guaranteed that the towpaths along the Cheshire Ring will - at best - still be damp when we cycle it next weekend.
Hopefully it won't be overly muddy
