Yay, the new MacBook Pro arrived today. I’ll partake in a short unboxing and then get back to the day job.

Learn more. Go deeper. Think harder. Write better. Point all of this energy toward what you already care about. This is a more sustainable approach to writing.

I seriously need to get out running again. December 20th seems an age ago. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Today was the first day back to work since before Christmas. I’ve spent virtually all day in our little study because work, blogging, theme tweaking and online courses are computer-based. 🖥

Is it too late for me to learn a new skill for the modern age? So begins my third attempt at Colt Steele’s Web Developer Bootcamp.

For the third time, I’ve started Colt Steele’s Web Developer course on Udemy. I’m glad I checked it out again because Colt has revamped everything, updated lessons and remade every video for 2021. This time I’m in for the long haul to prove a fifty-year-old can learn code.

Just after Christmas, I ordered a new 13” M1 MacBook Pro. Surprisingly it ships from China and not a nearby Apple store. I wonder how many times the courier will drop the device on the ground before it arrives?

I’m excited nonetheless: 16GB memory, 256GB storage, space grey.

Having decided to continue blogging with Ghost, I deleted today on the Write(as) platform. I decided to concentrate on one writing location and Microblog. I’ll gradually re-publish most of the Days to offload articles.

I love someone’s YouTube comment on a Marc Bolan video.

If I could bring back to life one person I would choose him!!!!!!

I always felt sad for Marc, dying so young with so much still to offer. The video is a bit grainy, but a fantastic live performance.

We finished our short drive along the coast today. iPhone 12 Pro Max handled low light scenery very well. One image, however, looked converted to a daylight scene.

The view from the car. We headed out for a drive to enjoy the winter sunshine. When lockdown starts, the sea might be out of reach if the government sets a distance from home limit.

If there’s one thing I’m sure about, it’s being wrong when I think I’m right. So when I was right about keeping my blog theme unchanged, I knew I was wrong and changed it again.

Some tweaks left to do but virtually complete.

I tried a new blog theme today. It was a bare-bones style, but I didn’t like it.

Instead, I spent several hours making tweaks and image optimisations, keeping the original theme.

Images from today’s walk. We enjoyed the best of the sunshine, but the roads were very slippery.

Last Tuesday the reMarkable 2 arrived. An e-ink tablet that I hope will allow me to compose posts while reducing my time on OLED screens. 📝

First impressions?

Fantastic technology
High quality hardware
Fun to use
Excellent handwriting recognition

We enjoyed a cold and sunny new year’s day walk near home. The roads were icy, so the walk took longer than usual. 📷

I wish everyone on Mastodon a happy, productive, and peaceful New Year. Finding humanity outside the bird site has been fun. ❤️

Here’s to blogging in 2021 🍾🎉

I’m beginning to wonder if I’m on the verge of making a mistake.

With an end of year review of blogging, I’ve considered migrating away from Ghost to But, all the search findings concern migration to Ghost, not away!

I got the DHL confirmation this morning for the reMarkable 2. Now I feel like a kid again at Christmas. ETA 30th December.

Tomorrow will be the first Christmas without family around the table. My wife and I will dine in the new kitchen while the dining room will remain empty. But I’m grateful for the memories and being with a wonderful wife.

Why oh why did I get a video suggested in my YouTube feed entitled, “The Five Worst Handguns I Bought”?

All I want is tech, Beatles and sci-fi, thank you very much.
