Google's plan:
* Release gMastodon
* Convince people that free their service is Better™ and not to trust those independent servers
* Turn everyone back into the product again
* Cancel the service just as it's gaining traction causing all those people not yet using Mastodon to say "See Mastodon was nothing really"
Microsoft will try too except:
* The sign up process will be painful and isn't guaranteed to work
* Communication with non-Microsoft servers will randomly stop and the Mastodon admins will only get automated responses with random "fixes"
* They won't cancel the service but instead announce it will be rolled into Teams
Facebook will probably ignore the whole thing but if they don't it will involve weird goggles and stalking.
