I pay for compost pick up at my apartment. One of my neighbors (don't know which) puts their compost in my bucket when I put it out to be swapped.

For a while I thought our pickup was occasionally giving us full buckets by accident but it turns out it was this neighbor dumping their stuff in my bucket on pickup day.

I'm a little frustrated about it and can't decide if I should figure out who it is and confront them about it. Good for them for caring enough to compost though??

Pretty cool. Think we'll be seeing more of this?

"The Cambridge bike lane battle is heading to court"

MFW a group called "Cambridge Streets for All" seeks to block/reverse construction of separated bike lanes for parked vehicles. Moreso after (unwisely) looking at the comments. 😔

Cars don't shop at stores, people do.

Chromebook, Linux container

Debating a little whether i should just switch all the way to Linux there are some nice things about Chrome OS though 🤷

Chromebook, Linux container

The linux container on my Chromebook tried to upgrade, used up all the space available and then failed. 😂 I increased the allocation, finished the upgrade myself with apt.

Also, switching from the flatpak to the AppImage of Lagrange saved a gigabyte of space 🤯

I also made desktop files for my app images so i don't have to start them from the command line anymore 😅

🚲️ I want to try to ride my bike from Boston, MA to Providence, RI (45 mi) this year, but I don't know when I'll get around to it; this year is just filling itself up with things!

Hello @pinafore! 👋 Would love if boosting/reposting have a option for confirmation before posting (I know not everyone would use)! I was scrolling through the federated timeline and accidentally clicked on one of the buttons on something random I was scrolling by. almost didn't notice!

This is blowing my mind. Happy Tuesday!

And then... if you took each of the frames and added up the "color" of the pixels where your eyes are you'd get the interference pattern from your eyes blinking!

When you measure the electron, it's kind of like taking one of those photos on your phone and picking one of the frames as the reference one. Your eyes might be open or they might be closed. Because your eyes are both open and closed in the picture... since you blinked.

I am imagining the universe as one of those "live photos" (that a smartphone might take). If you say "put an electron here", an electron is really small and moves very quickly, so like in depicting a small thing in a video it kind of informs the state of multiple pixels in an localized area across multiple frames within the photo. Kind of like your eyes in a selfie. The wavelength is the set of pixels in the area where your eyes are in the photo.

I was watching a Veritasium video about black holes and musing on the fact that light has no mass (but does have momentum!). This made me think about light being a particle and a wave and sent me down a rabbit hole of youtube videos. The concept of a particle as a wave that therefore has a frequency has long felt and kinda still feels a little weird to me (yeah yeah, I know double slit), but oddly enough the concept that it has a WAVELENGTH feels more natural to think about.

I accidentally worked through an appointment and I feel terrible about it 😔

Just finished "Going Home". Its a short read at just 55 pages but I really appreciated learning about the three mothers: Mother Earth, Mother Water, and Mother Rice Goddess.

Today I'm reflecting on Jon Jandai's message that life is easy but we make it hard.

I've been living in my apartment for several years. There's this low pitched noise that started about when they added a dehumidifier in the basement for which i ended up buying a sound dampening pad cuz property manager said they couldn't turn it off for safety reasons. Its helped but there's a more noise coming from somewhere else (maybe a second one?). been also using a white noise machine which helps some. don't know what else to do 🙁

I made my first batch of sauerkraut and my first batch of yogurt! Tried them both today!! 😊
