Do you know anyone interested in getting paid to improve #diversity in a Free Software project? Boost appreciated!
@fedeproxy, a new Free Software project for #forge #federation published a request for proposal today. If you have some expertise on fostering diversity in Free Software communities, this is your chance to make a difference, at a very early stage. And maybe set a good example for the thousands of other Free Software projects in the same situation.
@dachary Excellent idea! Maybe try to contact Isabelle Collet? She's an expert on that topic and she might be the best person to know who to recommend for that offer.
@dachary With pleasure. Her book "Les Oubliées du Numérique" is really good. And to familiarize with her work there's also this good episode : https://www.binge.audio/podcast/les-couilles-sur-la-table/des-ordis-des-souris-et-des-hommes
I understand. I wonder if anyone is really an expert in diversity. We are all trying to figure out what that means in practice :)
I don't know what @dachary is looking for in terms of software, but for #fedeproxy diversity initiative I had the impression it mostly revolves around the community that surrounds the project, consisting of all technical and non-technical stakeholders. So a community-building thing with diversity as an important objective.
@humanetech very well put 👍
@PaulaToThePeople you have a point: there is no denying that #forge #federation is about creating software that is useful to developers. Unless one has an understanding and interest about the software development cycle, they are unlikely to be interested in the project 😅
