May be useful to know where you and I may end up soon, as more people in the US are taken by the government. Cecot is a prison in El Salvador the US government has already sent ~250 people from the US to against the order of a federal judge, without charges filed, with no trials nor due process.

It has 256 cells and a total stated capacity of 40,000 prisoners, so each cell houses 156 prisoners. The bunks are not beds, they’re more like metal shelving; no mattresses. No windows, fans or air conditioning, with high humidity and daily average high temperatures above 86F/30C during almost all the year. Conditions have been described as torture, and El Salvador’s authorities do not intend for Cecot’s prisoners to ever be released.

“’…a concrete and steel pit where there is a perverse calculation to dispose of people without formally applying the death penalty’, Miguel Sarre, a former member of the United Nations Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture, told the BBC.”

“It is not known how many - if any - of Cecot’s inmates have yet been formally convicted of the crimes they are accused of.”

If one seeks escape, it is exceedingly difficult:

“It has 8 blocks with 32 cells each.”

“The are two sets of mesh perimeter fences which are fully electrified, and two reinforced concrete walls surround the facilities. The perimeter of the outer wall is 2.1km (1.3 miles). And there are 19 watchtowers.”
