Stoned thought: suppose you ran YouTube & replaced all recommend algo metrics with Medium-like clapping. Clapping more increases recommend juice for those who share your "also clapped for" web but decreases recommend juice for the average untrained new user.

Is this enough to prevent gaming the system? Probably not, but how does it break down and how defensible is it against attack? Better than watch time, certainly.
