In case anyone runs into this issue - it seems like in the newest update for Windows 10, the generic ASIX AX88772A driver no longer works with the Apple USB Ethernet dongle, even after forcing it for the device. What works though is using https://github.com/karosium/asix_eepromtool to dump the EEPROM and changing the USB ID from Apple's 05ac:1402 to generic ASIX 0b95:772a.
But this time I built it inside a qemu softmmu chroot and then copied it over to my phone once it was completed, rather than building it directly on the phone itself.
This made the process considerably less painful. And it means that this time around, I was able to build a 64bit prefix. Neat :)
Opened a number of bugs at #Gentoo to officially support software on ARM64 that I have successfully tested on the mnt reform 2.
@mntmn external antenna mod for Reform! I don't have a laser cutter on hand, but a 3d printed side panel works just fine
