Did you know that the CERN Collider is not just a scientific marvel, but also an engineering feat? The collider's 27 km tunnel is so long that it could circle the Earth three times, and the magnets that guide the particles are so strong that they could lift a Boeing 747! #CERN #Collider #EngineeringFeat #github mastadon #microsoft #siliconvalley #foia #journalism #nyc #boston #nft #digitalart #google #llm #llama #meta #gemini #charity # #philanthropy #michaelpaulino #michaelpaulinostudios
@mikez_petm “The collider's 27 km tunnel is so long that it could circle the Earth three times”
- sorry, what?
Yeah! What Mike said!
Maybe there's one beamline that completes multiple circuits of the 27km tunnel, with a second beamline that runs in the opposite direction.
That would mean the stuff being "smashed" does 4500+ laps of the tunnel before colliding.
Originally planned to be built under the France- German border, the France-Switzerland border was selected when the Germans opted out.
The Germans remembered that they're no longer allowed to fire anything into France.

@ikentcpel @mikez_petm AI generated? I bet the fact actually is all the cables and wires in it could, something like that.
@freequaybuoy @ikentcpel That sounds very accurate , I am going to be studying CERN a bit more , Follow to stay updated on more really cool facts of science , tech and art news dail
