@thomasfuchs @rysiek Hospitalization is also a "lagging indicator". (my Flagpole link in this thread)

@thomasfuchs sounds like the CDC was just monitoring the wrong part of society—the hospitals—instead of the "community transmission" that they used to monitor, and at-home testing results don't show up in the count. With the community transmission map, much of the country is in the red. flagpole.com/news/news-feature The virus continues to mutate.

Heard this song at work and thought it was a good one: Graveyard "It's Not Over Yet".

traditional food, before the advent of medically and scientifically recommended grains, food with fat

I'm liking the movie, but I also needed a break. It gets a bit sad. The disclaimer said the results (in the trailer) are "anecdotal" and that exercise, sunlight, and a few other factors play a part like the food choices.

Warning—they included the TERF, Lierre Keith.

@nev Yeah, they haven't invested me as others have warned, but they've bit my ankles; and I've had to pick them off. I read they were harmless.

Basically Microsoft/Amazon are the new "Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM".

They've somehow become Trusted in industry so if you want to do anything else, you have to first make a watertight case.

If it all explodes and it's Microsoft's fault, well, oh dear but never mind you did the Due Diligence by buying the Market Leader.

@feditips @_Nohemi_Sofia_ Mastodon also does a lot less computing work than commercial social networks. There are no algorithms analyzing user behaviour or trying to optimize advertisement sales. So there’s some energy savings there.

planted a citronella plant this evening 🌿 I put red clover seeds on top of the clay loam I filled in around the potting soil, and I put a few seeds on top of that potting soil too. I put grassy mulch on top of both.

rained today, first time in about a month! Oh, I put some compost in the hole before I put in the plant. I watered the plant a little bit before pulling it out of the pot, but most of everything was soaked by today's rain.

Today, I dragged @StuartBeveridge to Chorley to see a fantastic bridge.

Because the railway and canal are at such a sharp angle, a normal arch wouldn't stay up. Instead, the stones are hand-carved in curves so that the joins between them are perpendicular to the bridge's weight.
