I regret reading #hackernews again. That site is filled with #Apple loving diehards, that have completely bought into the ads.
It's always a little scary to see just well #advertisements and #marketing work, even on allegedly smart people.
Maybe we need to have a #webStandard that allows us to send money to websites in a programmable manner and with verification.
For example: I transfer 10€ (or the equivalent in crypto) to an account every month. Then say I want 1€ to go to wikipedia, 3€ to be split amongst the top 3 news websites I have browsed that month, another 3€ to the top 3 peertube channels I watched, and the remaining 3€ to my month's favorite software project's domain.
Would we still need #ads?
