R20 - An Urgent Situation: Rethinking Tourism through Architecture, Art and Community
'Taking place in three phases, An Urgent Situation invites a cross disciplinary group of architects, artists, artisans and others to explore social and ethical questions related to the travel industry. '
Deadline: 4 August 2022 23:59 CEST
Online community/residency: 3 - 31 October 2022
Design period: 31 October 2022 - 30 January 2023
yesterday had a long discussion with... let's say the "director"... of possibly biggest local showcase music festival/conference about missing any critical content on the conference. with few exceptions there's general trend of industry-supportive talks and round tables - i.e. 'how to get into Spotify playlisys'. he was very receptive to my (sometimes radical) ideas and experiences (like fediverse etc). now it's time to propose speakers and content. let me know if you have ideas, fedi!
Thread: GK Chesterton, on perspective & reality, chastising British tourists who find beggars "repulsive":
----
It is really not so repulsive to see the poor asking for money as to see the rich asking for more money. And advertisement is the rich asking for more money. A man would be annoyed if he found himself in a mob of millionaires, all holding out their silk hats for a penny; or all shouting with one voice, "Give me money."

job offer at code & context (https://coco.study) https://karriere.th-koeln.de/job/view/599/studioleitung-code-im-studiengang-code-context
a new study program at https://th-koeln.de. I am teaching here since 2 years and enjoying very much to build-up this program from scratch, quite literally, setting up workspaces, equipment, concepts, courses and our team. You can be part of this adventure by inventing what a studio code will look like.
An important part of this job will be to help students to develop programming skills and hardware knowledge to enable them realize their own ideas, with a focus on agile methods and team work.
Here are some images to give you an idea of the place and of example projects students have worked on so far.

I forgot to publish this from yesterday... I kept on getting interrupted so not really sure how long it took. Probably in the region of 75 minutes.

Textures.. The woods are full of textures. Both soft and hard, light and heavy. They arrange themselves in the order of harmony. The botanical world may transcend some of its wisdom to us, if willing to spend enough time with it, not merely in the material but also in its spirits. A wisdom not of analysis, research and conclusions but of the inextricable bond between the all and everything, the material and the immaterial.
open for everybody up to 1st of August! #opencall send us your films, videos / shorts & silents!

Hello! I'm making a new introduction because this is my new account (old one was Acro). I'm a graphic designer always looking for new ideas and at the moment interested in creating graphic work with Processing.
I'm also trying to discover, learn, and understand the way of software sustainability, minimalism, and decentralization.
Reminiscence of a #concert I was part of together with a #plant as the lead vocalist at DASA Dortmund. This was a part of the studies I was undertaking. I guess a month after the concert, this beautiful indoor botanical garden was dismantled and converted into something else.
This event was streamed as a part of the 21st DASA Scenography colloquium titled "Same Same but Different."

We're happy to announce that we just started to work on three new interdependent online resources: the Damaged Earth Catalog, the Permacomputing wiki, and the permacomputing workshop series!
///
Damaged Earth Catalog
A growing online catalog of the different terms in circulation, used by communities of practice, in relation to computing and network infrastructure informed by ecological ethics, degrowth, resilience, repair, and minimalism. Currently developed by @l03s as part of her PhD research.
///
Permacomputing wiki
A new wiki about permacomputing that aims to expose its principles, present and discuss the concepts and jargon required to engage with permacomputing, and maintain a repository of related projects. Currently facilitated by @viznut and @320x200 open for contributors!
///
Permacomputing in the Arts
A workshop series that will be developed throughout end-2022 and 2023 as an onboarding course for permacomputing practices in art an design. The workshops will be made available as an Open Educational Resource. Developed by @320x200 as part of a postdoc research on the topic.

There are some really interesting sound installations exhibited at Kunstmuseum #Bochum and around.
[en] Does anyone know about software to surveil users on public telegram channels? I'm interested in looking at how that works. I know it's possible to log what is being said on public channels, store it on a server and then recoup over time or over different channels who is active where and when, what they say and so on. And because storage is independent from the channel it doesn't matter if messages disappear after a certain time. Is there code somewhere you know of? #telegram #surveillance
A while ago I contributed a short essay about my work Stranger to the Trees to the book The Next Renaissance: Culture and Creativity Shaping Europe. It's now been published on their website, and addresses how #Art can address #Sustainability issues in the context of the #EuropeanGreenDeal, by discussing the artistic and scientific outcomes of my work exploring how #Microplastic interacts with #Trees. I was very proud to have made an installation and published a paper based on the research carried out. Our paper shows the first published evidence of microplastic being taken up by #Birch tree #roots.
