So Merry and Pippin pull out their laptops, realize the door opening API call is unsecured, and use curl to POST "X-Authorized: Friend" to it, being sure to set the language encoding to Elvish first.

@pseudonym @Unixbigot @LapTop006 @vanellopemint when I broke my arm, I got home and realised there was no way I could get my DESFire fob out of my pocket to get in to the house. Thankfully there is a way to log in on my phone, which I could just about manage left handed!
