(Edited version: original file was too large and became difficult to read)
I've been on a three day camping trip into the Norwegian wilderness with my partner and our 3-year old (his first real trip!), and I had some time to just sit besides the lake and reflect upon the reflections and how to paint them. I've worked out my notes into this tutorial and I'd really like to share them with my fellow fedi-artists.
I long for communities that span interests again. That was a feature of a #BBS, and of #Usenet in a looser fashion. Maybe you could say #reddit and #Mastodon, but Reddit is too time-sentive for me to ever contribute meaningfully (and is closed), and Mastodon is a "community" around who you know. (OK, maybe some local timelines on some instances? But those still seem to be around particular interests.)
There are a few Facebook groups, but those exclude by platform... Any others? 2/
One of the most requested features on Mastodon is a built-in language translation system, where you can click on a post and it automatically translates it into your language.
If this is important to you, and if you are comfortable using Github, please give this issue a thumbs up to let the developers know that this feature is wanted:
(I thought this was already being worked on, but I cannot find any official announcements saying this.)
Walking out of ice cream shop last night, guy says "Hey, you don't need that mask, you afraid of the fake plague?"
Hypothesis: he's an idiot.
Test: Me, not breaking stride, "Nah, I'm just ugly. You should try it."
Ten seconds later, guy says: "Hey!"
Hypothesis confirmed. #science
