On this day in 1975, there was a shootout at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota between American Indian Movement (AIM) members and the FBI. AIM leader Leonard Peltier was arrested for this, and continues to be imprisoned 46 years later, though he maintains his innocence.
