As a web dev consultant, I’ve been having a lot of intro conversations.

One big question I ask all of them is “What’s your budget?”. As you might expect, this is also one of the hardest questions to get answered.

In one such conversation, I got the idea to compare a software development budget to a real estate budget to convey its importance and it worked surprisingly well.

@stevenwoodson I like the analogy! And that talking about budget is crucial. What I think is hard for a cloent is understanding what a budget can buy you: how do you relate the „tent to luxury house range“ to a software equivalent?
