It felt so good to be back out doing astrophotography this evening. Had a quick but ultimately unfruitful play with an experimental imaging train but reverted to 100-400mm telephoto lens + astro camera to get some data on the Cygnus Loop with the new(ish) IDAS NBZ dual-narrowband filter.

Still a week to go before astro-dark returns after the summer, but … at 7ºC I had to put on a jumper whilst faffing with the telescope. Definitely a sign of doing it properly :)

Weather permitting, I’ll get another night or two on the Cygnus Loop before processing it properly. There’s also data from an earlier session to consider, but that was shot with 180s subs while tonight’s 300s frames are far better to process already.
