Making myself a decent cup today, using this Taiwanese geisha coffee from Alishan. Method: finely ground (though coarser than for espresso) to brew in a moka pot.

In the misty cool mountains of #Alishan in central #Taiwan, there is a flower that is said to be a gateway to the gods
The #Dendrobium #Orchid, or #GoldenGrass #Orchid, grows in clumps of between 10 and 20 on glossy green canes. A yellow flower with a velvety orange-fringed centre, it is beautiful but odourless
To the indigenous Tsou tribe, it is known simply as the #GodFlower
The tribe is now convinced that #GlobalWarming is to blame for its now scarcity
Spouse and I are still recovering from jetllag (12 hour time difference) after we visited family in Taiwan and then stopped by #Singapore and #Bali on the way back.
In #Taiwan, part of our stay was in #Alishan, with breathtaking views all around - also bought plenty of #coffee and #tea from the area. In Bali, bought some coffee from Kintamini which I have been brewing at home and it is lovely, if a little bright for my tastes.
Not in Chiayi anymore - currently walking around Alishan's forest recreation area, which is quite pretty (pics will follow, eventually). However, I'm noticing that 2,300m elevation is a lot for me in my mid-50s; have to stop often to catch my breath.
BangTea Bug Bitten Oolong - A green oolong that was bitten by tea jassids, then hand picked. Definitely a bit more odd than what I typically drink!

Moin #Mastodon und euch einen gesunden Start in diesen Sonntag. So sieht das in #Alishan zu dieser Jahreszeit aus. Liegt in Zentral #Taiwan und kommt wohl ganz nah an die Idealvorstellung westlicher Taiwantraeume heran.

Taiwan tea from the Ali mountain (shan means mountain 
in chinese) Powerful and complex tastes. So yummy 
also so expensive
