Exclusive: One UI 7 blocks the fingerprint sensor in many accidental touches

One UI 7 was recently released to the Galaxy S24 series and the Z Fold/Flip6 devices as the first device series to receive this highly anticipated update. It was feature-packed, such as new Galaxy AI features, Now Bar, and improved UI design that gives you a very immersive experience on a personal level.

One user reported that One UI 7 blocks the fingerprint sensor on your phone if you accidentally touch the screen too much when it is off. This is an important feature that ensures that you don’t accidentally unlock your phone with your fingerprints when you don’t intend to. When One UI 7 blocks the sensor because of accidental touches, you’ll see this message:

When your fingerprint sensor is blocked, you can turn on your phone screen to reactivate the fingerprint sensor so that you can unlock your phone again when you intend to.

This is implemented in response to situations where you may have to hold your phone in a way that triggers your fingerprint sensors, causing accidental unlocks. This is important to ensure improved security.

It was spotted with an S24 phone, which has an in-display fingerprint sensor, but it isn’t clear whether it also applies to all phones that have a side button as a fingerprint scanner. We expect that all eligible phones will get this feature when One UI 7 gets released for such devices.

If you didn’t receive the One UI 7 update, wait for a few more days or weeks, depending on your device model.
