As the RCMP investigates their $8.28-billion #Greenbeltscandal, Premier Ford’s Conservative govt has tabled a law cancelling their controversial municipal boundary changes.

👉 "another example of the Ford government pretending to do something by tabling a law to stop themselves from doing the thing that they already did and got caught for. Not real leadership or accountability and Ontario deserves better. - Nate Erskine-Smith

@CanadianCrone.
The recently appointed chair to the #Ontario Land Tribunal is Michael Kraljevic.
He & Premier Ford are long-time buddies & even played on the same Etobicoke high school football team together.
Kraljevic is now set to earn a cool taxpayer funded $1,019,875 as chair of the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Previously, Kraljevic was CEO of Toronto Port Lands Company, which owns & manages more than 400 acres of #Toronto waterfront land.

@Perspective

Will the selling price of new-builds be lower now that developers pay nothing for infrastructure? 🤔

Yes, precisely. #Bill23 banned municipalities from charging developers for infrastructure costs. As a result every Ontario municipality will have massive budget shortfalls.

Premier Ford may look contrite & promise he's reversing the #Greenbeltscandal lands, but note he's not reversing his biggest gift to developers - #Bill23 - which offloads infrastructure costs onto municipalities.

For example, #Guelph is projecting a loss of $227 million in development charges as a result of the #DougFord govt's #Bill23 legislation passed last year.

👉 Guelph taxpayers now have pay 35% more in property tax between now and 2027.

In the midst of the #GreenbeltScandal, a reminder that #Ontario taxpayers will now pay for roads, community centres, transit, sewers etc. because of Premier Ford's Bill 23.

i.e. The Ford govt legislation will cost Hamiltonian's $14 to $25 million a year & York Region tax payers upwards of $34.9 million a year, costs that were previously carried by the developers.

Not only did #DougFord's developer buddies snag land at a profit, his #Bill23 eliminates infrastructure costs = even higher profits.

@zazzoo Hope so! All part and parcel of #Bill23, which Ford govt crafted & passed behind the fog of the pandemic.
And #DougFord's entire "strong mayor" power-play imposed undemocratically & without vote is an attempt to bulldoze his "agenda" through Ontario cities & towns without due process.

Bill 23, Premier Ford's controversial housing legislation, opened the door for the #GreenbeltScandal by weakening conservation authorities, removing environmental protection, weakening the OMB, adding “strong mayor” legislation & increasing the financial burden on taxpayers for local infrastructure.

#Bill23 is a beast. It's complex, powerful legislation that will change #Ontario even if the premier "returns" the Greenbelt lands.

@JILLSLASTWORD: The rot starts at the top, but the PC Party voted as a block on #Bill23. They worked together to keep secrets, push developer interests ahead of Ontarians, who needed REAL leadership in this affordability crisis.
