“More than 1m cars sold in UK each year too big to fit typical parking space. Larger cars are more deadly in crashes than smaller ones, as they weigh more and have tall front ends that trap victims beneath them instead of knocking them to the side. They also pump more toxic gases into the air.” When does this madness end?

“The most beautiful village in England: how Bibury became a victim of its charm. Once a tranquil haven in the Cotswolds, Bibury now grapples with overtourism as hordes of selfie-snapping visitors pour into its narrow lanes.” The big mistake is to build more car parks which attract more cars. Banning cars would make people walk (or wheelchair) through this beautiful village which would cause much less congestion and encourage people to actually stop and use local businesses.

From @paulkrugman.substack.com RE "Sean Duffy’s shithole remark: Trump’s attempt to kill New York’s new congestion fee.... the biggest reason Trump hates #congestion pricing is probably because it embodies the idea that sometimes people should be asked to change their #behavior for the #commongood. And since that’s what his rage seems to be about, the efforts to kill congestion pricing will become even more frantic now that it’s... a huge #success story."

“The Searchers bring their musical quest to an end after 68 years. The band’s guitarist John McNally, 83, and bassist and singer Frank Allen, 81, told the Guardian they have decided to retire, partly because age is catching up with them, but also because the increased traffic on the roads now makes it so hard to travel from one gig to another.” Increased traffic finishes band!

RFC 9743: Specifying New Congestion Control Algorithms
