Cycling Through Evergreen Street

These days, it’s so unusual to see a cyclist who isn’t a delivery person on the roads in Cork City that this man caught me by surprise as he turned into Industry Street from Evergreen Street.

Luckily I had my camera out, as I was walking down to Nano Nagle Place for their photography exhibit where I had a number of photos on display. Can’t believe that was in 2019.

100+km (65 miles) ride today. A ton of cyclists! Beautiful weather! But I did get sunburn a little and felt overheated for the last 15 miles or so.

Also a very hard ride! Averaged 18.4mph with almost 3000 ft elevation gain. Two guys are very speedy and strong but thankfully I was able to keep up most of the time. We swung by Rhode Island too :)

Folks, something to remember about me:

The biggest ego boost is asking me if I am riding an electric bike or I'm just really strong, while you're on an electric bike riding along.

I think it's the sourdough toast I had in the morning.

OK, I found Vancover #ByLaw 2849, whose paragraph 60 has just this:

"No person shall ride any bicycle upon any sidewalk except where posted by signs."

That's it.

Three-year-olds are "persons".

A kid bike with 10" wheels is "any bicycle".

I've never seen a sign in Vancouver
next to any sidewalk saying you can ride there. Only on designated mixed-use and cycling trails and bike lanes.

So your little #Cyclist is breaking a #Vancouver by-law and the BCMVA.

Today is a big day for #cycling enthusiasts in #Flanders, #Belgium , actually, all over the world. That’s why I’m sharing a photo of a #cyclist. For years, he was a colleague. He’s probably not watching #TourOfFlanders, because it’s perfect weather to go out riding himself. ;) A #portrait shot with a #ContaxG2 on Fuji #colorfilm --- #analog is timeless. #filmphotography #ishootfilm #grainisgood #thisisbelgium #carlzeiss
