His family is not mentioned in the novel. His thoughts are and his behaviour is.

The bit in the extract about DanTay is actually a quote from Dante Alighieri.

. . . even at primary school, HayWire had been struggling with certain lessons, and struggling with making friends. Many people just left him alone. Adults and children alike. Not getting involved. Suggesting “it’s nothing to do with me”.

There was something from back then that HayWire now wants to share with MaxChaos. It would help to answer the question. The question about whether territories should have armies. It was something that had been said by one of the adults, maybe it was a teacher, maybe a support worker, or maybe even one of the visitors who had been brought in to try and help. HayWire is trying to remember that person’s name. Maybe it was DanTay?

He explains all of this to MaxChaos. Who uncharacteristically listens patiently, and senses how HayWire’s story mirrors some of his own life story. A bit different. But quite similar in places. HayWire repeats the question.

“Do we actually need a Garrison?”

He simply cannot be sure who said this, but he can remember the words exactly, because it resonated . . . then . . . and now.

HayWire thinks that the answer should be:

“The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.”

Hab am Wochenende einen Freund in München besucht. Und endlich konnte ich #SimonRattle live erleben und dann auch noch mit dem Sinfonieorchester des #BR und #neueMusik. Boulez, Berio und Lachenmann wurden gegeben. Insbesondere der Laborintus II von Berio war um-wer-fend! Der absolute Hammer! Bearbeitetet wird hier das Inferno von #Dante. Am 1. April wird das Konzert um 20:03 Uhr auf BR Klassik gesendet. Unbedingte Hörempfehlung!

在孔蒂尼的选集里重读了Le dolci rime（就是Convivio里讨论高贵的本质的那一首），现在我觉得Santagata对这首诗的解读也非常可疑

（当然最奇怪的是Santagata好像不接受 #dante 可以对同一个人/对象有不同侧重的不同看法，尤其在但丁如何评价腓特烈皇帝的问题上，你认为但丁只要表达出一点对该皇帝的负面意见就是他在表态拥抱圭尔弗【黑党】的立场的话你对一个几乎是呼吸着圭尔弗阵营散播的该皇帝的无穷多黑料长大的人是不是要求太高了？这和忠诚不绝对就是绝对不忠诚有多大区别……？你如何解释Salimbene这种一边传播皇帝的各种残忍事迹一边赞赏他的机智和言辞【仅根据Contini的引用】的作者？）
