Overall, the Metronet fiber pricing feels dishonest to me. I wonder how many people sign up for this without reading the fine print. Below is the pricing for my location, which includes 3 scheduled price increases over the next 3 years.

Monthly Price
$39.95

This Monthly Price is an introductory rate

The rate will go to 49.95 on month 13, to 59.95 on month 25, and to 69.95 on month 37.

On this day in 2017, I visited Whiteman Park in Perth.

Whiteman Park is home to the Bennett Brook Railway and Perth Electric Tramway Society, as well as two transport museums.

Ironically, for such a transport themed park, the only way to visit is by car. This is set to change with the park's tram line being extended to the new Whiteman Park railway station on the Ellenbrook suburban railway line (currently under construction). Both the tram extension and the Ellenbrook line are expected to open in December 2024.

I now have both Metronet and AT&T Fiber at home. Some details for thinking of switching.
* Both installs went very smooth.
* Both are reaching gigabit speeds(900-920mbps actual)
* Metronet uses CGNAT which limits portforwarding and can be a problem for some video games. (workarounds possible)
* ATT gives a real public IP address and Support IPv6.
Both services cost the same. bundling can save some.
I use both with my own gear
Happy to share any more details.

Going back to my post a couple of days ago wondering if fiber was coming to my neighborhood, it looks like that is, in fact, true. I got their card in the mail yesterday.

I'd never heard of
#metronet before. Anyone here use them? What has your experience been like?

Their pricing seemed good at first glance. $60 for 1Gb and opposed to the $60 I'm paying now for 100Mb. But looking closer it's that price for only the first 12 months, then goes up to $85 for months 13-24, then goes up again to $95 for months 25+. That kind of put a damper on my excitement.

#Metronet recently installed #fiber in my neighborhood. I didn't sign up because I already have pretty fast #DSL for $30/month, but they still installed a box in my back yard for when they service my neighbors.

They've had technicians ringing my doorbell every day for the past week, asking for access to the back yard, and just now, at 7:55 AM on a Saturday morning, they did it again. 😡

At what point can I start invoicing them for wasting my time?
