It's a bonus day. </p><p>One of the long-standing mysteries in my tree has been what happened to Julia Cole Carter and her 2 daughters. </p><p>On 29 February 1892, a marriage bond was signed in Weakley County, Tennessee, by Robert Alphonso Carter and Julia A Cole, my great-grandfather's sister. By 1900, they had two daughters and were living in Clay County, Arkansas. Robert remarried eight years later. </p><p>The daughters disappeared when they became young women. Both were located today, thanks to the ever-expanding newspaper collections being posted online. </p><p>A family legend says that a horse ran away with the hearse the day of Julia's funeral. He was born in 1748 and married Catharina Ericsdotter when he was 24. They had 6 children that lived to adulthood. Daughter Brita Pehrsdotter married the soldier Jonas Pehrsson Flink, whose father was another Pehr Pehrsson, marrried to another woman with the surname Ericsdotter. The pair of Pehrs and their wives are my 5th-great-grandparents and they are extremely confusing to keep straight when researching.<br><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/genealogy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>genealogy</span></a></p>
