#QT pagan.plus/@Cat_LeFey/11435390 This is why it’s important to see an actual herbalist (or at least do your own reading) if you’re trying to treat anything even vaguely serious. And if you’re not, for crying out loud just use some common sense, try things in small doses first to see how they make you feel, and don’t mainline one thing (any one thing) to the exclusion of everything else. It’s not rocket science, and herbs are still a really good option for home treatment, just don’t fall into the traps of either “omg am i gonna poison myself, i’d rather just take paracetamol” or “it’s natural, therefore necessarily risk free, gentle and inoccuous”.

Pagan+Cat (@Cat_LeFey@pagan.plus)Posts about medicinal herbs hardly ever include the side effects or any negative reactions. It's always, "drink chamomile tea to relax and sleep" and not, "15-20% of people are allergic to ragweeds, which includes chamomile, so it might give you a scratchy throat." -Drinking mint tea regularly can cause acid reflux and exacerbate other GI issues. -St. John's Wort calms you, and is good for depression, but it can also dangerously lower your heart rate if you take beta blockers. -Sure, fennel is great for "digestive issues," but don't schedule a date that night, you will be very gassy. -All members of the Poplar family, which includes Willow, contain the same chemical as modern aspirin within their bark. Don't give it to your kid if they have the flu or chicken pox, it can cause a deadly reaction. -Rosehip helps with painful menstruation, and is a great source of vitamin C. So great, in fact, that you can overdose and give yourself kidney stones if you take too much. -Dear white people, taking turmeric every day will literally turn you orange. #Herbology #HedgeWitch

My friend @vvzen wrote up a much more clever and sophisticated version of a #hack I did many years ago to alter the opening splash screen art of $7000 professional #VFX software, #houdinifx

It's a great read and explanation across #cpp , #docker #qt and our old friend #LD_PRELOAD. Nice to have some fun in the #vfxpipeline mines.

When I've got a second I'm going to recreate this setup for my original target, #FoundryNuke

Dude, idk why but I've seen Markiplier play this for years, and while watching his videos over the years don't have any effect on me anymore, I've tried playing this game several times and just like Amnesia, I immediately tense up and get anxious being in the driver's seat.

I can't believe it's been 13 years since it released. I've been casually interested in the SCP universe before knowing this game existed, but I can say it has had a hand in drawing me in over the years.

Just for fun I'm writing an #ILBM impl. for #Qt (QImageIOPlugin). I'm having trouble with the PCHG chunk. Any #Amiga dev/hobbyist here who might have a clue what's wrong? My code:
parsing: github.com/panzi/qilbm/blob/42
rendering: github.com/panzi/qilbm/blob/42
sample file: sembiance.com/fileFormatSample
Other impl. I've looked at and can't finde the difference to:
aminet.net/package/dev/misc/PC (includes 2 images that *do* work)
fossies.org/linux/netpbm/conve line 1596 and onward, which is used by #ImageMagick. #RetroComputing
