"Following the #Nazi Press criticisms of a judge for an outrageously mild sentence of five years in prison for the murder of his wife, Hitler addressed the judiciary in a speech in the #Reichstag on April 26, 1942. Among other things, Hitler said: "I expect the #German legal profession to understand that the nation is not here for them but they are here for the nation ... From now on, I shall intervene in these cases and remove from office those judges who evidently do not understand the demand of the hour"

Today in Labor History February 28, 1933: Erich Mühsam, was arrested and blamed for the Reichstag fire. The fire was actually set by Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch council communist.
Mühsam was sent to the Oranienberg concentration camp, where he was tortured and murdered. Mühsam was an anarchist, poet and playwright who condemned Nazism and satirized Hitler. In the wake of the fire, President von Hindenburg issued the Reichstag Fire Decree, suspending civil liberties, and launching a "ruthless confrontation" with the Communists, making the fire pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany. They went on a witch hunt, mass-arresting Communists, including members of Parliament, crippling their participation in the March 5th special elections, which allowed the Nazi party to expand their plurality in parliament. Hitler had called in hopes of moving the Nazi party from a plurality to a majority through quasi-legal means. Sound familiar?

1️⃣ Vor dem #Reichstag / Platz der Republik gab es dann eine kleine #Schneeballschlacht. Das hatten wir bei einer #FridaysForFuture -Demo vmtl. noch nicht. Wer weiß, wie oft das in der drohenden Heißzeit noch möglich sein wird…

2️⃣ Daneben waren die "Geht wählen"-Buchstaben und das "Demokratie schützen"-Banner zu sehen. Die richtigen Botschaften am richtigen Ort 👍

3️⃣ In die selbe Kerbe schägt "Go Vote" - das Bild ist wg. der Lesbarkeit gespiegelt, weil von hinten fotografiert.

Zwei Jugendliche(?) bewerfen sich ausgelassen mit Schneebällen.

Die Botschaft "Go Vote" aus einzelnen hochgehaltenen gelben Großbuchstaben zusammengesetzt von Greenpeace im Demozug. Weit im Hintergrund der Fernsehturm. Das Bild wurde zwecks Lesbarkeit der Buchstaben gespiegelt.
