At 2 am, 36 years of European sports broadcasting history comes to an end, as Warner Brothers Discovery remove Eurosport from the UK and Ireland.

The seemingly sole reason is brand consolidation - there will be no new broadcast TNT Sports channels added, with all content (supposedly) being slotted in somewhere. I do have doubts especially for winter sports after the 2026 Winter Olympics.

It does mean that the base price for its programming has been increased by 3.5x overnight.

As you know I'm a bit of a TV head, so I hope you'll entertain a few classic clips I found again on YouTube.

Released overnight, the confirmation of the sad end after 36 years of #Eurosport in the UK & Ireland, with all programming being subsumed into #TNTSports.

It now means nearly a 4x cost increase for the former's programming via direct subscription.

It will probably be first noticed by people in a year's time for the Winter Olympics. And maybe Discovery will give it a remembrance send-off - I won't see it - but they probably won't.
