“It was always so much fun being around him….He was never depressed by failure or seduced by applause. He couldn’t stand snobbery, fakes, or social climbers. Jackie was street people. He related to the masses."

Jackie Gleason was born on this date.
Tonight in 1956 — Ralph Kramden was a game show contestant on THE HONEYMOONERS.
Watch how many laughs Gleason gets from this scene. Just masterful.
Tonight in 1958 — Art Carney guest starred on ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS.
He was always much more than Norton from THE HONEYMOONERS, and this darkly comic episode is an early example of this brilliance.
Directed by Norman Lloyd! Watch on Prime, Peacock, and Roku Channel.
Happy birthday to George Petrie (1912-1997), who appeared on more episodes of THE HONEYMOONERS than anyone other than the stars.

“He had exquisite timing.” — Jackie Gleason
Art Carney (1918–2003) was born on this date.
He’s beloved for THE HONEYMOONERS, but I also adore his poignant 1970s performances in HARRY AND TONTO, THE LATE SHOW, and GOING IN STYLE.

"Unconventional Behavior" was the 33rd of The Classic 39 episodes produced in 1955-56 — one season of brilliance that has been rerun for nearly 70 years!
Tonight in 1955 — Ralph and Alice Kramden adopted a baby.
“The Adoption” is the only HONEYMOONERS sketch that legitimately chokes me up.
It’s one of “The Lost Episodes,” but as good as any of "The Classic 39.”
