Pepijn<p>Growing up in the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Dutch" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Dutch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Frisian" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Frisian</span></a> north the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Koplopers" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Koplopers</span></a> (head walkers) were the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/trains" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>trains</span></a> you took for serious long journeys (locally we had the diesel <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Wadloper" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Wadloper</span></a> units) to far away places like <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Groningen" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Groningen</span></a> or <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Utrecht" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Utrecht</span></a>. Now they're just local Dutch trains I take to get to the international one :-) After four decades they still look sharp!</p><p>*Koploper: originally the three and four wagon units had doors that opened and allowed passengers to cross below the drivers cabin.</p>
