#UK / British lawyers submit war crimes complaint against UK nationals involved in the Gaza genocide on behalf of Israel

A team led by prominent human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield KC has submitted a 240-page war crimes complaint to Scotland Yard against 10 British nationals who joined Israeli forces in Gaza.

The dossier alleges these individuals participated in targeted killings of civilians and aid workers, indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas including hospitals, destruction of protected historic and religious sites, and forced displacement of Palestinians.

The complaint, compiled over six months on behalf of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and Public Interest Law Centre, covers alleged offenses from October 2023 to May 2024. It includes witness testimony of bodies buried in mass graves at hospitals and medical facilities being bulldozed.

Under UK law, British nationals can be prosecuted for war crimes committed abroad, regardless of where they occurred. Mansfield stated: "British nationals are under a legal obligation not to collude with crimes committed in Palestine. No one is above the law."

This will continue if we allow our politicians to excuse Israel's actions. One of the advantages of a world where information (some of it distorted) can be disseminated widely and quickly is that it is more difficult for terrorist states to get away with their murder. But of course this requires governments to pay attention - and they will not if we don't hold our 'elected' members to account.

The Guardian · Politicians want to normalise what’s happening in Gaza. Our moral outrage won’t let that happenBy Nesrine Malik

There are some people who will take any opportunity to kill and torture - Gaza is giving many of them an opportunity and (they hope) a chance to hide their crimes.

Of course this has to come to law, but I am glad that evidence of these crimes is being collated.
