About 9 years ago I was reviewing some acrylics for my art blog and painted an ocean wave. I was never happy with it as it was too simplistic but at the time it was the best I could do.

Today I decided to paint another ocean wave using the same paints. While there are some aspects of it I'm not 100% happy with, it is nice to be able to do a side-by-side comparison of then and now and see that I have actually improve (even though sometimes it feels like I'm going nowhere).

This is my next attempt in repainting Monet while using the color scheme of 90s anime Sailor Moon. Monets "Stormy Sea At Etretat" was mostly grey and I think I enjoy this pink and purple version actually more. I also feel like while the original displayed a daytime scene, this looks more like a nocturne now.

It was so much fun layering all those different kinds of pink in the water. :blobmiou:

I've made a mixing chart for my Talens Amsterdam Expert acrylic paints. They are the only acrylics I have found that stay the same hue and value dry or wet. Guess my favourites! Extra marks for spotting the labelling mistake.

Why make a mixing chart? Okay, it's a bit tedious, but saves masses of time, frustration and brain ache in the long run. It also teaches you a lot about how the different pigments "stand up" to each other. I definitely recommend doing it.
