Dr. Figuring-things-autSo, I don't know where I found the energy (cos a couple of hours ago I almost fell asleep) but I managed to spend a few minutes on the sewing machine altering some socks. I had bought them because they were one of the few with higher cotton content. Unfortunately the band was cutting into my legs so I didn't wear them for months. Now I cut off the band and zigzagged over the edge adding a splash of colour too. TAV CreationsMajor resize of a 2nd hand dress that was great in every other way for the bride. I had to add at both the side seams and the back zipper to get the needed circumference at their ribs. Then the illusion mesh needed to be reduced along with shortening the back button line by 4 buttons and loops. TAVAloniaStudio work for a client yesterday involved improving this vintage jacket she inherited from an elder family member. I took it in at the shoulders and front breadth, allowing me to shorten the sleeves through the armhole at the same time as removing the space formerly allowed for shoulder pads. Then I added these pockets that are sort of a hybrid welt/buttonhole pocket. The velvet ribbon forms the simplest of decorative finish for the openings, which I kept narrower to minimize showing too much of the pocket lining at the opening. Normally, I would have made a facing, but not enough fabric came from the sleeve head adjustment. Last summer the outdoors alone got as hot as 30°C IIRC. Would that be damaging to my equipment to live out there at that temp or higher?

policyoftruth2 - I'm currently attempting to shorten some curtains I bought. I am using safety pins and fabric glue. I saw her do it, but didn't pay much attention and wasn't really interested in learning at the time. I don't have a sewing machine, nor friends or family with the skills for this. Michele HA pet peeve of mine is when stores/drycleaners/etc are hemming pants at an angle, they cut the front crease instead of swinging the seams to accommodate the angle. Sure, it’s quicker, but it’s also susceptible to tearing, and limits how much the pant can be lengthened if they get them too short. Not a fan of the pinked edges either. The white chalk line marks where the new hem will be. <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/alterations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#alterations</a>Yes, I’m using navy fabric to face the hem because it’s the best option I have in my supplies. It’s not going to show.

I think it’s from the <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/1950s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#1950s</a> or <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/1960s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#1960s</a>, home made- no label. Part of the re-making involves changing the neckline and removing a Peter Pan type collar. It is now a bow sewn to a new veil I made for my client. The skirt is bias cut woven fabric and the lining is lightweight knit.
