One of the things I love about the #Fediverse: random people's #biking maps. Whether they're riding close to my house, in my long-lost hometown, somewhere else I once lived, or in a place I know nothing about, I dig seeing everyone's zigs and zags.
I didn't think I'd get 11 miles in today. It's dreary out, cold, had a few raindrops, and the wind picked up a bit. Still, did 11 miles in an hour.
I also picked up two hard drives from @brandonjbrown so I was carrying 8TB the whole time!
Conversation with a person not into bikes:
Them: “Wait, why would you buy a bike and then change everything on it?”
Me: “Everyone always changes things on a new bike! Have you heard of the Ship of Theseus?”
Them: “No.”
Me: [after explaining the Ship of Theseus] “That could never happen to a bike, because if you change the frame, it’s not the same bike.”
Right?
Umberto Eco implies the existence of Umberto Tour, Umberto Sport and Umberto Turbo.
There was a bit of a rubbing noise the other day after I changed a tube on a ride.
Now I know
"ooo, that's a good idea!"

I am rather pleased I can get this sort of thing to the allotment under my own steam now. And loving how sociable riding a bike can be!
Ok, hear me out, what if I didn't buy purpose built fabric for the bike's frame bag??
More than 80 participants joined Montreal's Critical Mass yesterday. The vibe and energy were excellent; however, the temperature was quite cold, especially at a slow pace. We finished the ride at Mabrasserie for a nice social moment.
I look forward to next month's event (with warmer temperature :-)
Yikes. It's the second year in a row that servicing my road bike cost more than the original purchase of the whole bike (900 CHF vs. 700 EUR). Part prices really did not recover since the pandemic. Cui bono? At least I should be good for the next couple of years.

Folding bikes can be so much fun! Geometry & fit for folders can be very different from full-size bikes when makers prioritize fold over fit. For short rides, that can be okayish, but if you're riding longer, it's important to get the right fit.
In my case, I looked up folding bikes on craigslist & tried them out before deciding. Here's the mid 90s Bike Friday I picked up for $750 a few years ago and upgraded
Stylish(?) shot of #BaltimoreBikeParty passing by worklights last night.
I love being able to use my #Brompton in trolley mode #BikeTooter
A new bike bus is born! Right here in Ottawa. It may be in your hood. Check it out.
Want to start your own? We’d be happy to help.
Hey Cyclists. I want to get a more diverse media input. Do you have any recommendations for bicycle related blogs or podcasts that are made by nonbinary or trans people? Also by people of colour?
I'm mainly interested in English or German language content. But feel free to share recommendations beyond that.
New tire day. Front tire will follow as there was only one in the store. Aiming to give this city boi a bit more control on the endless gravel roads of Finland. From 37-622 to 45-622.
Imagine stumbling upon this well-maintained route, just traveling home. I appreciate beautiful unexpected bikepaths throughout the Netherlands.
Stel je voor dat je op deze goed onderhouden route struikelt, gewoon op weg naar huis. Ik waardeer de onverwachte, prachtige fietspaden door heel Nederland.
