The San Francisco Giants won today, a 6-5 squeaker over the Milwaukee Brewers. LaMonte Wade, Jr. is off to a rough start this year, batting .094 so far. His one bright spot is hitting 1 for 3, a double, with the bases loaded. Clearly, he needs more at-bats with the bases loaded, which is squarely the responsibility of the other batters in the lineup. Step up for your teammate, guys.

Tyler Rogers pitched another shutout 8th inning, followed by Camilo Doval, who recorded his 5th save.

The Giants came back from being down 5-2 in the top of the 5th to go ahead 5-6 in the bottom of the 8th.

All they had to do was hold the #Brewers scoreless in the top of the 9th . . .

which was easier said than done 🙄

After 2 bad outings, Walker got a rest & Doval came into close but it was just one of those rocky starts for Doval, who threw 6 straight balls, walking the 1st batter but getting the next 2 batters to fly out before giving up a single putting runners on 1st & 2nd -- between which there were 2 mount meetings -- 1 initiated by Adamas & the other by the pitching coach to settle Doval down --before getting the 3rd out on a 3rd fly ball to center field.

What agony!!! 🫣

But the Giants win, take the series 1-3 & gain a 1/2 game on the #Padres (17-8) & #Dodgers (16-9), who were both off today, to take sole possession of 2nd place in the NL West at 17-9.

Go Giants!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Nuts!!! 🤦‍♂️

Roup imploded & leaves the game after giving up 5 runs (4 earned, 1 on a wild pitch) on 6 hits & 3 BBs before getting pulled from the game after only 3.2 innings pitched in the top of the 4th. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Giants leave runners on 1st & 2nd to end the 4th. 🙄

#Brewers lead 5-2 going into the top of the 5th. 🙁

So, does anyone have any idea what's "wrong" with #RyanWalker???

Two bad outings in a row . . . the blown save versus the #Angels giving up 4 runs to allow them a walk off win 4-5 the other day and another bad outing giving up 2 runs and leaving 2 on with only 1 out vs the #Brewers last night that Doval had to come in to clean up & to get the save 2-4.

Whatever Walker's problem is, if he doesn't fix it quick, I don't think Melvin will have any choice but to start using #Doval as the closer again now that he seems to be back in his 2023 form.

This would not be a "controversial" decision IMO.

Of course, Doval could easily go on a walk-about again too but it only makes sense to use the pitcher who is pitching best &, at the moment, that's Doval.

Melvin put Walker in to close the game in the top of the 9th in a non-save situation with the Giants up 0-4 following his blown save meltdown vs the #Angels the other day but Walker got into trouble again. 🤦

Walker got a K but gave up 2 singles, hit a batter again & then gave up a ground rule double with the bases to score 2 for the #Brewers.🫣

But this time, Melvin didn't wait around ,& took Walker out & put Doval in with only 1 out & runners on 2nd & 3rd.

Doval K'd the 1st batter & got the 2nd batter 2 ground out to 2nd to end the game & to give Webb (3-1) & the Giants the win 2-4. 👋👋👋

This win ties the Giants with the #Dodgers (who lost again to the #Cubs today,) at 16-9;in 2nd place 1 game behind the #Padres (who lost to the #Tigers today) in 1st place at 17-8 in the NL West.

Ryan Walker had a rough 9th inning the last time he was called upon with a big lead. Let's see how he did this time.

Rhys Hoskins singled to CF to start the 9th for the Brewers. Vinny Capra came in to run for Hoskins. Garrett Mitchell struck out. Pinch hitter Jake Bauers came to the plate, replacing Joey Ortiz. He singled to center, moving Capra to 3rd. Caleb Durbin was hit by a pitch, an inside sinker. Once again, the bases are loaded. Another rough 9th. There came to be a mound visit. He stayed in the game. Turang came to the plate and smashed a ground-rule double. 2 runs scored. Another mound visit, and the showers for Ryan Walker, again. He's responsible for both runners on base.
