Today is an experiment with upload methods, using my phone as a hotspot for my tablet and not using my laptop. Today’s drawing was done at Knutsford service station on the M6, while Momma Darlo read a book. The driver’s seat was not a great place to do the drawing, and I had to lower the seat right back to get comfortable.<br>

In the past 3 months a work requirement is that I drive to work. Prior, I didn’t own a car. Cycled everywhere. Walked everywhere else. Attended <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/criticalmass?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#criticalmass</a>. With feet on the street I could feel the tension and pollution cars bought. Now, driving feels normalised once again. We moved house and to take my son to daycare I could pretty easily catch the bus. But driving seems ‘just easier’ so I do that. Now my experience of Smith St comes via a car windscreen. So quickly I see people on bikes again and think fuck that. Fuck the heat. Fuck having to shower when I get to work. Fuck watching my colleagues easily leave while I get packed and ready to change into bike clothes. Fuck forgetting my bike lights and being scared to ride home at night. Fuck packing summer clothes to work but also winter clothes for coming home. Fuck potholes rattling my wrists. Most of all fuck cycling while feeling consumed with anger at the selfishness of the drivers around me. Burnout, and perspectives change. <br>
