The #CanadaRevenueAgency says it has terminated 330 employees for inappropriately receiving the #CanadaEmergencyResponseBenefit during the #pandemic, giving its final update on an internal review.

The #CRA launched an internal review in June 2023 into employees who received #CERB despite being ineligible for the benefit, which identified 600 employees for further investigation.

Remember when Pierre #Poilievre said #pandemic supports were just "big, fat govt programs; and we're Conservatives, so we don't believe in that".

The last person you'd want running the country during a national life and death emergency or global conflict would be #Poilievre & his Conservatives... who seem to think the solution to everything is tax cuts.

Fascinated by #Canada's small business response re: #CERB (Covid emergency business loans); they've had FOUR YEARS to prepare, repay. Interest free...until Thursday, then 5%. They'll be the first to say "there's no free lunch". Until now. Capitalism is great, as long as it's saved regularly by socialism.

Trudeau (Liberals) CREB was a band-aid offered to employed persons; it did nothing for the unemployed, who throughout the pandemic received zero support. It's not about giving people wealth, it's about providing basics, sustainably. Canada is the 8-9th largest economy. Yet, that wealth is inequitably locked away (corporations; billionaires; ...).
