Yes, it might be easier for family and friends to continue believing that you're cis. Alternatively, they might prefer to get closer to you by knowing who you really are. However, their needs are not the only consideration.

Whether you need to stay closeted for your safety or come out for your peace of mind, you deserve to honor yourself, too.

Hey uhhh, got any tips about making life easier for a closeted transfem? I'm still stuck with my parents who say they support me and then do the whole "what should I REALLY call you?" and "We'll support you, (proceeds to continue questioning me and not accepting the fact that I am not what I was)".

Pointed questions and lack of acceptance from them combined with lack of community resources has made my hopes of one day being who I want to be very low. I really wish I could get Estro but it's just not safe yet.

I just wish I was living with a mom and dad like my trans classmate from a while ago. No questions, no stern looks, no second guessing. He just had a parent, not an investigator.
