Why should Digg.com integrate with the #fediverse ?

Tell me!

I have been picked for a group of volunteers to give feedback to the new #Digg developers. I have suggested building Digg around #ActivityPub. I have gotten pushback from the other volunteers stating that subject-forum fediverse places ( lemmy etc ) have low traffic.

Please give me ideas about why the Fediverse would be beneficial to Digg.

Rose and a group of what he calls “brainstorming partners,” which included Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, design and product exec Justin Mezzell, and even folks like Blogger and Twitter cofounder Ev Williams, started to talk about whether AI might be able to help them build a better social platform. “I would call Alexis up and we would chat,” Rose says, “and we’d be like, ‘hey, what if, what if, what if?’ And a lot of those things started giving us both that butterflies-in-the-stomach situation, where you’re like, ‘oh, this could be cool. This could be really cool.’”

I figured with Reddit going down the drain and Lemmy not being ready yet, I’ll give the new #Digg a try. So I signed up for their early access.

Apparently I now have the opportunity to sign up. Not for the Digg preview itself, but for “Community access” to what is essentially their discord server. Oh, and it’s $5.

Good luck with that.
