We all know the Asian elephant and the African elephant (divided into the bush – or savanna – elephant and the smaller forest elephant).But until now I was unaware of two more extinct kinds of elephants:The Syrian elephant went extinct either 200,000 years ago or around 700 BC likely due to a change in the climate.The North African elephant went extinct between 300 and 400 AD due to over-hunting.
