White Wings Unfurled

This morning, the boys—Ben and Charlie, my dogs—and I were out for a walk when I paused to photograph a small bird perched in a tall, dead tree across an open field. While focusing on the bird, I noticed a great egret (Ardea alba) flying towards me. Quickly shifting my attention, I began snapping pictures. The egret soared directly overhead, giving me the chance to capture this breathtaking shot.

🗨️🇬🇧
🐦 My first great egret 🇩🇪
📝I had seen great egrets before and photographed them 3-4 times. But the photos were just to show that I had seen some.
ℹ️ The Great White Egret (Ardea Alba) grows up to 100 cm tall and has a wingspan of up to 170 cm. It feeds mainly on amphibians, fish and aquatic insects.

🐦 mein erster Silberreiher 🇩🇪

Ascent to Paradise

I considered cropping this image but decided, "No, it is fine just the way it is." The photograph features a great egret (Ardea alba) ascending gracefully to the treetops from a pond below. Its ascent, to be honest, was prompted by my presence—I had encroached on a secluded bird habitat. Hoping to get a closer view, I ventured down a steep bank to the clay beach by the pond. Unfortunately, my actions had the opposite effect, and the birds flew away.
