The sun cut a bright swath of light across Hidden Falls! Perfect backdrop for husky portraits.

Husky Tonttu stands before a waterfall that cascades over a shelf in a thin veil of water. A hand reaches out from the side and Tonttu looks up at it, wondering if a treat is about to be offered.

Back to Nerstrand State Park for early spring hiking. Barely any green showing so far, but a few spring ephemerals were in bloom.

As usual, the best photos were of huskies at the falls! Zeena stopped for a bit of salad before gazing over the precipice. Tonttu enjoyed soaking up the scenery.

Today we tested the human's ankle on a 5 mile hike around the southern loop of the Louisville Swamp, along the Minnesota River, SW of the Twin Cities, MN metro area.

It was WARM, warmer than expected by the forecast of overcast skies all day. EVERY time we come here it seems to be warm and tests our huskies ability to stay cool while getting some exercise.

The Louisville Swamp Boulder was there, as always! A glacial erratic dropped by the last glacier and patiently submitting to regular attentions by rock climbers practicing their bouldering skills.

Migration is in full swing, with a number of new species for the season singing for us along our way!

An Alaska husky with traditional markings ranging from white to black and icy blue eyes lounges on a bed. He's modeling a fluffy white scarf made from the fur from him and his fellow packmates. The scarf wraps around his neck, with the final swath showing off blocks of different yarns of thick to thin gauge, rakishly diagonal across his front. The husky is looking directly at the viewer, ears up and alert.

The husky again, from the front, but this time he's looking to stage right, towards a window out of view that is providing gentle side light. His lip has a little hitch where it is temporarily caught against his canine.

The husky has ended the photo session by getting up off the bed. The photographer has caught the underside of his chin and chest as the scarf starts to unwrap in a blurry streak.

The Fluffy Cows were out! They were in a narrow transfer area waiting to be moved to another bit of prairie. Zeena and Tonttu of course were excited to say hi.

The sign on the fence says that everyone must stay 10 feet away from the fence for safety reasons, but doing so would have meant standing on the side of the slope! We broke the rules and stayed on the trail >>10' from the fence.

The huskies must tolerate slower, shorter walks while one of their humans recovers from an ankle sprain. Yesterday we explored the paved bike path along the Mississippi River where it widens into Spring Lake...

5/5 All in all though, I'm equal parts excited - to be working with some great people in a dynamic field - and apprehensive - about what kinds of craziness could take place in the next couple of years.

But if I make it there in one piece this summer… go #Huskies!
