Putting nailpolish on the hooks/studs of earrings is an old trick that I kind of don't like. It's cumbersome, dries unevenly and always seem to rub off really fast for me.
What I've found out over the last few days works well and is a lot less messy is rattle can satin varnish. I don't know if it'll last forever but it's lasted longer than the nailpolish did on these.

An old scone baking dish that used to hang on the wall - until the clay tab broke off. Can't remember where I got it, sometime back in the 90s, but it served nicely as a wall decoration until its unfortunate accident.
Now it's reborn as a jewelry dish! One of a kind. There will never be another one like it.
