—Linuxiac

「 Furthermore, visual enthusiasts and general users alike will be pleased with the huge overhaul of fractional scaling in Plasma 6.3. Thanks to improvements in KWin, the desktop makes a stronger effort to align UI elements with the screen’s pixel grid, cutting down on blurriness and uneven edges 」

KDE Plasma 6.3 Desktop Environment Released, This Is What's New
Linuxiac · KDE Plasma 6.3 Desktop Environment Released, This Is What's NewKDE Plasma 6.3 delivers a pixel-perfect experience with improved scaling, bug fixes, and powerful new features for artists, developers, and everyday users.

Watching #KDE 6.3 video from @thelinuxEXP, and from a 30 Year #Mac / #iOS-only user, KDE is looking like a really nice future. The "Discover" app / setting thing... that looks much better than the #MacAppStore - the granularity of what looks like an enforced digest of changes for permissions etc for the updated version is really nice.

I tried to forge ahead one more time with #FreeBSD one more time on the laptop. Switching to the current branch of packages and ports, for an all #KDE #Plasma 6 experience, but hit some weird bugs with KDE's display manager. It seems like themeing was broken for me out of the box with SDDM? and hand rolling my sddm.conf wasn't fixing things. There is something to be said about an operating system, or even distributions that setup your desktop environment for you. #BSD #Plasma6

KDE Plasma 6.3 brings drawing tablet improvements

Speaking of KDE, Plasma 6.3 has been released. It brings with it a ton of improvements aimed at digital artists, such as much improved management and configuration of drawing tablets. You can now map an area of the tablet's surface to a part of the screen, change the functions of stylus buttons, customise the pressure curve and range of a st

Moving KDE’s styling into the future

One of the major issues with KDE's styling system is the fact that over the year, it has accumulated four ways of styling applications - which makes themeing and changing aspects of the default theme far more cumbersome than it should be. In fact, with the current version of KDE, it's effectively impossible to consistently theme the entire KDE desktop, as several pa

I'm kinda puzzled with why when I try to run #virt-manager (Virtual Machine Manager), from the application launcher or something like #KDE's #Krunner, it'll fail with this error:

Feb 11 19:13:11 calcifer virt-manager[244999]: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'libvirt'
Feb 11 19:13:11 calcifer systemd[1046]: app-virt\x2dmanager@772f8c75e7a84dcf8e27d58b0c09769a.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE

but if I launch
virt-manager from the terminal, it'll launch just fine. It's worked all the while before, till this issue started happening a while ago and I just haven't bothered to debug it or attempt to fix it. Any idea?

KDE Plasma 6.3 Released, This is What’s New

A new version of KDE Plasma is out and, as you’d expect, the update is packed with new features, user experience enhancements, and performance tweaks. KDE Plasma 6.3 is the fourth big update in the KDE Plasma 6.x series and it marks the one-year anniversary of the KDE Plasma 6.0 debut, as KDE notes in its 6.3 announcement: One year on, with the teething problems a major new release inevitably brings firmly behind us, Plasma’s developers have worked on fine-tuning, squashing bugs and adding features to Plasma 6 — turning it into the best desktop environment for everyone!” KDE As :sys_more_orange:
