The Daily Freeman newspaper just posted about another crash, between a car and an ebike in a parking lot, in the same time span. So that's three crashes in 36 hours, two injuries and one outdoor dining setup completely destroyed, within 36 hours in a city of 25,000.
In the last 36 hours in #KingstonNY, one driver ran over an elderly person in a crosswalk, and another driver completely destroyed the parklet of a popular cafe.

#KingstonNY (pop. 25k) started a traffic enforcement unit after the mayor was bombarded with complaints about psychotic drivers at town hall meetings in all 9 wards. The unit issued EIGHT HUNDRED tickets in its first two months of operation. Sadly, I don't think it has made any difference in driver behavior yet.

Back in #KingstonNY this morning. Every single time I have looked at the window, I've seen a driver run the red light outside. 4 for 4 this morning.
News from another Thursday night #congestionpricing commute from Port Authority to #KingstonNY.
Once again, the bus was held in New Paltz for a few minutes yet went on to arrive in Kingston 10 minutes early. It used to arrive about 20 minutes late.
"The parking team will be focusing on infractions including double parking, blocking hydrants, parking in crosswalks or bike lanes and other dangerous parking behavior."
Welcome news out of #KingstonNY. Now if only the city would install LPIs and enforce the new, 25-mph speed limit.
Update from second bus ride to city of #congestionpricing: bus left #KingstonNY 13 minutes late and is arriving at #PortAuthorityBusTerminal 9 minutes early.
The differentiator is the lack of gridlock in Midtown and no backups of single-occupancy SUVs in the #LincolnTunnel.
I credit congestion pricing with 22 minutes of saved time.
Good news out of #KingstonNY this morning: $240k Federal grant to un-plan the overbuilt 4 lane highway that cuts through the downtown area for about a mile, connecting to 2-lane roads at each end.
During #UrbanRenewal, Kingston also built the pointless, 1.2-mile I-587 on riverfront farmland, and replaced its Beaux-Arts Post Office with a Jack-in-the-Box.
On average, I spend 4 days per week in #KingstonNY. There is constant honking from 5am to 11pm at the nearby intersection, because even when drivers are told what to do by a signal, they still cannot figure out what to do.
Over the past two weeks in this small city, drivers in separate incidents have killed one elderly resident and sent one child to the hospital. And for the 4th time, I was almost flattened by a driver turning without looking on Monday.

This is why there are so many left and right hooks (and countless near-misses) along Manhattan's unidirectional #bikelanes in #bikenyc.
Meanwhile in #KingstonNY, drivers are accustomed to turning right *at full speed* through red lights without stopping or scanning the crosswalks. Kingston needs to implement LPIs.
We have yet another #trafficviolence death in the City of #KingstonNY, two days after Christmas. The driver has multiple political connections, and local police did not release info about the crash for SIX days. Now they claim they are looking for witnesses, while also stating that the 77-yr-old victim was not in a crosswalk. But there IS a crosswalk exactly where he was struck down.

Last night we joined a holiday ride organized by mountain biking group #FatsInTheCats that brought gifts and cheer to kids around town, including those in shelters. Despite the temperature being 23°F/-5°C, I counted about 60 participants.
