Graham Watt
2012 Nissan Leaf, 76k miles. Just had the air conditioning evaporator core replaced because it was leaking so badly a refrigerant charge escaped in a month. Its a 9 hour job for a mechanic. So, I paid skilled labor for at least 2 mechanics. Now my A/C works again. Although I had gotten used to commuting without it. Car held the cool night air well and if its below 74°F, I just open the windows a bit or recirculate that air for my 30 min drive. At the end of the day, its more like 80°F, so I open all the windows to vent the car and then drive home with them open a bit. It works, its less drain on the main battery pack, and after being in an overchilled office all day, I don't mind being a little warmer. Now this is April in Hawaii. Cannot do this in Phoenix.

Replaced battery pack, repaired A/C, going to keep driving this older leaf as long as I can, or at least until the #skyline rail stations/route opens up so I might take advantage of that. When that happens, I can use the car to go from home to a park and ride, then train, then not certain, maybe need to bring a bike for the station to office leg of the trip. When i had tried to use the BUS, it was a 90 min one way. 30min to 60min drive.
I kind of miss the pandemic because it meant I could just work remotely 100% of the time for 6 months, and then 4/5ths of the time for another 6 months. End of this month, "regular telework" ends. (F U 47) and I will be, once again, spending 60 to 90 mins driving 5 days a week, when I could be sleeping or doing something else productive at home.

#ev #electricvehicles #nissanleaf #rant #blog #luckylivehawaii

Micah Ilbery :sloth_coffee:
My wife and I's old car was getting super unreliable so we had to replace it. Our new car was delivered today and it's so nice! We got a 2025 Nissan Leaf. It's wild because it is technically a used car but it's a 2025 and had less than 3000 miles on it. I'm happy we were able to find this one as it was relatively cheap and I am currently unemployed but the payments on the new car are basically the same as our old one. This is the first time I've ever driven a fully electric car. One pedal driving is trippy but I was surprised how easy it was to adjust. I think I'm really gonna enjoy this thing. And as a bonus I didn't need to purchase from a Nazis to get a good electric car!
#ElectricVehicle #NissanLeaf #EV
