Is there a FOSS video game platform? I want a Roku alternative that supports something like that and #peertube and #owncast.

imo a way to pay creators directly and automatically (@Interledger) kicks all these possibilities into overdrive immediately. This will be the intermediation that VCs used to talk about endlessly. But while they always just wanted to be the new billionaire middlemen taking their increasingly large share, open protocols will make many more lifestyle businesses possible.

Today's Peertube update:

• Did a significant amount of work optimising and increasing the security on our object storage.
• Replaced some of the hacky things I did to get an MVP with better strategic options.
• Availability is high and speeds appear strong.
• Horizontal Pod Scaling is now set up for our runners so we can handle periods of increased uploads/streams

Need to work on:

• Re-evaluate resources on runners (I think we can probably vertically scale them up a little bit and we have resources available to be able to accommodate it).
• Graceful shutdown of runners when scaling down.

We're not quite production ready but if you'd like an account to have a mess around and help test out the functionality, please let me know.

my adventures in #selfhosting - day 101 (perseverance edition) ​

Good morning Fedi friends!

I'm putting the finishing touches to a blog post about #PeerTube - from the POV of creators. I look forward to publishing it soon so I can devote the rest of the day to fixing my self-hosted Ghost blog issues.

Yes yes yes I know I keep going back-and-forth on this, so I apologize for the "flip-flopping" but I recently got an amazing shout out on a Fediverse podcast... but that shout-out mentioned my self-hosting woes so as I matter of pride I wanna fix them with code. I'm not done yet! I'm a fighter by nature.

I rebuilt my entire Ghost blog (33 posts and counting) from scratch TWO TIMES this year. After stepping away from the problem for 5 days, I'm ready to dive back in.

Disabling the Mastodon preview cards (for links) would fix all my problems but first I wanna see what happens when I tweak my NGINX config file.

I'm in the self-hosting game for the LONG HAUL! Undeterred, ready to learn. Let's do this.

Viele Menschen versuchen derzeit sich von grossen Anbietern zu lösen. Auch wir haben uns vor Jahren von Twitter getrennt und auf #Mastodon eine gut funktionierende Alternative gefunden. Kurz darauf haben wir unter BBSindex.TV unser eigenes Videoarchiv gegründet.

Inzwischen ist das Feediverse weiter gewachsen und bietet eine solide Grundlage mit #PeerTube als Videoplattform an. Wir haben uns deshalb bei #MakerTube um einen Kanal beworben und diesen unter https://makertube.net/@bbsindex einrichten dürfen. Aktuell laden wir immer mal wieder unseren Content dort hoch.

Um nicht alles mit unseren Videos in der Liste was es neues gibt zu fluten laden wir nicht alles auf einmal dort hoch. Derzeit pushen wir unseren #Amiga Content nachdem wir bereits unsere #BBS Tutorial Videos dort veröffentlicht haben.

Das bedeutet nicht das wir von der grossen Plattform verschwinden oder unser Videoarchiv einstellen. Wir wollen lediglich Euch alternativen anbieten das Ihr eine bessere Auswahl habt wo Ihr Content anschaut.

Wenn Ihr noch nicht wisst was mit Videos im #feediverse geht dann nehmt Euch doch mal 15 Minuten Zeit und entdeckt diese immer besser werdene alternative. Mehr Creator und wachsende Communitys sorgen dafür das diese Plattformen in Zukunft bestehen können.
