The Reed Flute Cave, also known as “Ludi Yan” or “Lu Di Yan,” is a natural limestone cave located in Guilin, China. The cave has a great number of various exquisite stalagmites, stalactites, stone pillars and stone curtain, which have been forming since 180 million years ago. Its name comes from the reeds growing at its entrance, which can be used to make flutes. The formations inside caves are created from mineral deposits and water erosion. It has a long history of human presence, with inscriptions dating back over 1,000 years found on its walls including poems and writings from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).
